INTO THE LIGHT - Fairbanks, Alaska. Mom and my five year old self stood at the picture window. Moose families crossed our property, from forest to cabbage fields. She had my promise to freeze until they passed, should I meet up with them while outdoors. Certain I’d comply, it all fell apart, when a moose peered straight at me, through that big window. I went from ballet dance to pure screaming hysterics. The animal appeared as gentle as my depiction, simply looking into the light of our home, at dusk. This piece memorializes an early lesson learning to live in harmony.
